"Poetry and Hums aren't things which you get, they're things which get
you. And all you can do is go where they can find you." Whenever I carry my camera around, I try to find the picture that no one has taken - the door that everyone walks past without a second glance, the view looking straight up - and see things from a different perspective. I am depressed by the number of great photographs I've missed out of inattention or habit. I am excited by the possibility of finding a new photograph in an old place, a scene that's been there all along, waiting on someone to find it. Sometimes, though, when I'm lucky, the picture gets me. Those are the shots that make a whole roll of film worthwhile.
